Stan Getz - Voyage mp3 album
Voyage is a 1986 jazz album by American saxophonist Stan Getz, accompanied by pianist Kenny Barron, who consistently played with his group for his last five years of career, bassist George Mraz, and drummer Victor Lewis. This album was released late in Getz' career and was rare to find until its 2008 re-release due to high demand and low supply. The style of Voyage is very versatile, ranging from Cool Jazz to Post-Bop.
Voyage (Cass, Album). Very, very different but both are classics. If you can only have two Stan Getz recordings these are the two you should have. Voyage is a more modern studio recording which brings more intimacy and depth to the sound where Focus is all about the compositions and the performance, not the sound itself. Voyage is small ensemble playing at its best. Focus is Getz improvising "inside" of Eddie Sauter's rich, string orchestral compositions. Very different, but both very classic Stan Getz
Stan Getz said that Kenny Barron was the other half of his jazz heart in the late decades. Until now, Voyage has been virtually impossible to find but it belongs to the finest albums Getz recorded. Due to the high demand and low supply of this album, there was a second release of the album at 2008. Always the lyrical player, Getz seemed to play with an even greater ease and depth. This album is wonderfully recorded, features the gorgeous piano of Barron and provides an album of songs that is both sensual and painfully beautiful. The album is also voted as one of the Top 100 Jazz Albums of All.
I had saved this Blackhawk date on cassette tape back in the day and wore it completely out, only to find that it had since (unbelievably) been dropped from the catalog. This album is a perfect example of this, imbued with the beauty that featured Getz as artist. Released on CD in 1988, had been off the market until 2007. It has been on the music charts as one jazz album 'top 100' of all time. As always, Getz accompanying pianist Kenny Barron, who worked with him the last decade of his life was his ' soul mate ', George Mraz bass and Victor Lewis on drums. The set plays six tracks, including two building Barron ( 'Dreams ' and ' Voyage ', that title track ) issues.

Voyage (Stan Getz album). 1986 studio album by Stan Getz. Voyage is a cosmic musical event that reveals the inside of Getz's unique tone and endless melodic ideas; the audio engineer seems to have understood the intimate nature of Getz's soul and recorded him probably as well as he was ever recorded. This feels like you're taking a ride inside his tenor sax, from deep and reedy low notes to those shocking, brilliant announcements where he slyly shouts, "Here's something you need to hear. Young tenor players who want some insight on tone need only listen to Stan's intro note on "Dreams
