You Could Have It So Much Better is the second studio album by Scottish indie rock band Franz Ferdinand. It was first released on 28 September 2005 in Japan, and later on 3 October in the UK, through the Domino Recording Company. Album You Could Have It So Much Better. What You Meant Lyrics. As I took step number four Into the close of your tenement You cast your darkened eyes so low Said we're cold as the step cement. But I just don't know Oh what you meant What you meant. So Alec you may want a pill We are so cruel and to communicate Without the red stuff being spilled We must MDMA our sentiment. About What You Meant. Track 9 on You Could Have It So Much Better, released in 2005. The song is characterized by a mixture of both heavy segments (intro and chorus) and slower segments (verses). The meaning behind the song is most likely about intercourse, that is the first one a man and a woman have in their lifetime. The song also portrays drug and pill use as well as certain metaphors. What You Meant" Track Info. Release Date October 3, 2005.

Sound - 10 Franz Ferdinand's new album, "You Could Have It So Much Better" improves vastly on their first release, a huge hit last year which nevertheless had many shortcomings. On the new album, the band grows closer to the sound they seem to be trying for, perfecting it further and writing more complete songs. Songs like the first single "Do You Want To" and "Well That Was Easy" recall the first album, with catchy dance beats and a fun sound.

Either by accident or conscious homage, Franz Ferdinand have made an album that, in more places and ways than you’d expect, is closer to Face to Face than to Gang of Four’s Entertainment! There is nothing antique about the results. This Boy is a song about the vengeance of bling - I see losers losing everywhere/If I lose, it’ll only be the damn I give for another - built with lethal concision: 2:18 of dirty-surf guitars atop an impatient disco throb. The problem with You Could Have It So Much Better is, as with so many second albums, consistency. Franz Ferdinand never run out of knockout licks and vocal twists. But halfway through the record, some of the combinations feel more like schematics than songs. The jolts in tune and tempo in Well That Was Easy are jarring and unresolved, two good ideas in the wrong whole.

Franz' first album had songs that all, for the most part, sounded very different from each other. However, to me a lot of the songs on "You Could Have it So Much Better" sound alike. Sharper songwriting + better production - campy theatrics a much stronger showing than "Franz Ferdinand. This is one of the best albums of 2005 and I'm looking forward to even more growth on future discs.
