Mwana) is most likely taken from an earlier session and Love Can is a remake of the song off their debut album from 1972. Crispy & Co. – 1976 – Funky Flavored. Lafayette Afro Rock Band was a French funk rock band formed in Roosevelt, Long Island, New York in 1970. Though almost unknown in their native United States, they are now universally celebrated as one of the standout funk bands of the 1970s and admired for their use of break beats. After scoring with the mildly successful single Dr. Beezar, Soul Frankenstein, they released Afro Agban and Funky Flavored to little fanfare before returning to America and permanently disbanding. In 1978, French record label Superclasse released ten uninspiring, previously unreleased recordings, followed by a 1999 Best of compilation which was more warmly received.

Funky guitar snakes through electric piano riffing, rolling basslines, and some really heavy percussion – occasionally supporting a bit of chorus vocals, but mostly going for a hard-grooving instrumental sound overall! Includes the classic break track "Darkest Light, sampled by PE and others – plus Djungi, Raff, Conga, Avi-Vo, and Mali. Second album from 1972 for this killer US/French afro funk ensemble. The track ‘Darkest Light’ was sampled by Public Enemy and included on the 'Ultimate Breaks’ compilatio. .The group also not only brought under the name Lafayette Afro Rock Band LP’s from but also undertook Ice and Crispy and Co. The most famous song of the group is undoubtedly Hihace from the album Soul Makossa from 1973. ~ Tracklist Djungi 5:32 Raff 3:11 Conga 4:48 Avi-Vo 3:36 Malik 4:53 Darkest Light 6:15 Baba Hya 5:19.
