David Bowie is the self-titled debut studio album by English musician David Bowie, released on 1 June 1967, on Deram Records. Its style and content bears little overt resemblance to the type of music that he was later known for, such as the folk rock influenced "Space Oddity" or the glam rock of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

In May 1974, David Bowie released his eighth album, Diamond Dogs. Diamond Dogs was an album that pushed the style he had minted two years before on The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars to its limit in every respect.

David Bowie was born David Robert Jones in Brixton, London, on 8 January 1947. 20. Around the time of Bowie's 1975 Young Americans album, Chic founder Nile Rodgers auditioned to play guitar in Bowie's band. He didn't get the part. 21. But Rodgers later produced the biggest-selling album of Bowie's career, 1983's Let's Dance. 54. Arcade Fire and TV On The Radio are two of Bowie's favourite bands of the last 10 years. 55. Mary Hopkin of Those Were The Days fame sings the "doo doo doo" backing vocals on Sound And Vision.

When the pain hit, David Bowie was singing a song called Reality. It was just another concert on a tour that had stretched on a little too long, bringing him to a stiflingly hot arena stage in Prague, on a late-June evening in 2004. Reality, the title track to his album of the previous year, was about facing mortality and putting illusions aside, and at age 57, he had been busy doing just that. He was sober, and had finally quit smoking. I’m gonna take some time off. He meant it: Bowie wouldn’t begin work on The Next Day until 2010.

David Bowie’s forthcoming box set, ‘Who Can I Be Now? (1974-1976),’ will include his unreleased ‘The Gouster’ album. Its meaning was attitude, an attitude of pride and hipness, Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti says of album title. A new David Bowie box set is in the works. The follow-up to last year’s Five Years (1969-1973) box set, the forthcoming Who Can I Be Now? (1974-1976) will include Bowie’s complete unreleased album The Gouster. The album morphed and eventually became Young Americans. The set is due out on Parlophone, but a release date and full track list has not yet been revealed.

David Bowie’s Blackstar debuted Jan. 8 - two days before the iconic musician died at age 69. The album was quickly heralded as a standout in Bowie’s strong discography and even earned the No. 2 spot on EW’s list of 2016’s 50 best albums. I was in the isolation booth and there’s a clear piece of glass and he was right on the other side of that and in the room with Tim and Mark and Jason. I’m an emotional player and I felt like that energy was moving around the room between us. A lot of communication and a lot of interplay.
