Sam Phillips - Don't Do Anything mp3 album

Sam Phillips (born Leslie Ann Phillips, January 28, 1962) is an American singer-songwriter. She began her career in the contemporary Christian music industry but, uncomfortable with that image and industry, she re-branded herself as "Sam"-transitioning into the mainstream market after meeting producer T Bone Burnett. Her albums include the critically acclaimed Martinis & Bikinis in 1994 and Fan Dance in 2001. She has also composed scores for the television shows Gilmore Girls and Bunheads.

Exclusive Prime pricing. This is Sam Phillips raw, uncooked - at her most vulnerable. It is also sexy, sensual, and at times, she rocks harder than she ever has before. Take My Career in Chemistry - an explosion of joy, desire and mystery.

Composer and performer of the "la la's" on Gilmore Girls.

This song is by Sam Phillips and appears on the album Don't Do Anything (2008). I love youWhen you don'tWhen you don't do anythingWhen you're uselessI love you moreWhen you don't do anything. When you don't move, when you don't tryWhen you don't say anythingWhen you don't move, when you don't winWhen you don't make anything work. I love youWhen you don'tWhen you don't do anything.

Don't Do Anything seems prime for lyrical investigation: It's her first album since her divorce from husband and longtime producer T-Bone Burnett. Still, she manages to convey a universal message of strength and vulnerability through varied perspectives and clever lyrics. This segment originally aired on July 23, 2008. I don't think enough people have heard the music of Sam Phillips, and now seems like a good time to change that. Her songs unfold like perfect, miniature pop dramas. Her new album, Don't Do Anything, is loaded with great ones. Of all her incarnations as a performer - first as a Christian singer, then as a pop singer - the current Sam Phillips is the one I find most alluring. All Songs Considered recently asked Phillips to play an intimate concert at my desk here at NPR.

Sam Phillips's former husband, T-Bone Burnett, was happy to take Phillips's song Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us along in the grab bag of tunes he presented to Robert Plant and Alison Krauss for Raising Sand. So, if you're one of the many won over by that album, then perhaps it's also time that you joined Phillips's small but devoted band of followers

A songwriter for mainstream US television and film and wife of producer T Bone Burnett, Phillips has written a lo-fi gem of stomping folk and ballads full of heartache – the title track being a particularly affecting example. Low, rumbling guitars, crashing cymbals, mandolins, violins and tribal drums serve the songs well.

Don't Do Anything was the last release in Phillips' contract with Nonesuch, and she took on an unusual approach for the next step in her recording career.
