Kayo Dot - Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongue mp3 album

Kayo Dot is an American avant-garde music group. Formed in 2003 by Toby Driver after the break-up of maudlin of the Well, they released their debut album Choirs of the Eye on John Zorn's Tzadik Records that same year. Since then, Kayo Dot's lineup has drastically changed over the years. Toby Driver is the only founding member of the band still remaining, save for frequent lyrical contributions from former motW member Jason Byron.

Dowsing Anemone with Copper Tongue. Dowsing Anemone with Copper Tongue is the second studio album by Kayo Dot, released on Robotic Empire Records in 2006. The album received high praise from Pitchfork, Lambgoat, and Sputnikmusic, the last of whom named it the album of 2006

Band Name Kayo Dot. Album Name Dowsing Anemone with Copper Tongue. The record continues with the direction Gemini Becoming the Tripod established. Constantly moving, never really staying the same, the album as a whole is very unorganized and incoherent yet it strikes me that this is the only way this album could have been recorded. In a bizarre way that almost defies understanding, the music here actually makes sense to me. Experimentation for the sake of experimentation should never be the sole goal behind any release yet Kayo Dot manage to make it work

Is the change between Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongue and its predecessor even more apparant? Definitely, although now that the listeners are prepared to expect anything from Kayo Dot, it is not as surprising as it used to be. The new release seems more carefree and laid-down, surely jazzier and not as post-rocking as the debut. After the astonishing and beautiful debut, Kayo Dot in 2006 releases their second album, with a rather strange title, "Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongue". At the release of this album, and still today, there has been a pretty big controversy: some think that it's a masterpiece (PA collaborators named it album of the year), while others think that it's a really bad and useless effort, where the use of avantgarde goes too far.
