The Rich Kids released the album Ghosts of Princes in Towers, and the single of the same name, in August, with the latter ranking only at Their last TV appearance was at the University of Reading where they taped a live show for Rock Goes to College on 27 October. But the band ran into creative differences as they recorded demos for a second album. Having acquired a synthesiser, Ure, alongside bandmate Egan, wanted to integrate the new instrument into the band's sound while Matlock and New preferred to remain with traditional guitars and drums

Ghosts of Princes in Towers is the only studio album by British new wave band Rich Kids. The album featured their hit single, "Rich Kids", which reached number 24 in the UK Singles Chart. The other two singles included were "Marching Men" and "Ghosts of Princes in Towers". The album itself reached number 51 in the UK Albums Chart. Midge Ure - lead (1-3, 5-10, 13, 14) and backing vocals, rhythm guitar. Steve New - lead guitar, backing vocals. Glen Matlock - bass, backing and lead (4, 11, 12) vocals.
